Nucleic acid-based chiral nanostructures and their biomedical functions


Chirality is a common phenomenon in nature. Chiral buildings refer to 2 objects which are mirror photographs and can’t be superimposed on one another by any sort of translation or rotation. Nucleic acids, together with DNA and RNA, are chiral buildings. Totally different chiral geometries of nucleic acids, similar to A-form, B-form, and Z-form DNA, and mirror L-Nucleic acids, have totally different properties and physiological features. This overview covers the basics and up to date progress in nucleic acid-based chiral nanostructures and their biomedical functions. We start by introducing chiral geometries of nucleic acids, together with naturally occurring A-form, B-form, Z-form DNA and artificially synthesized mirror L-nucleic acids.
